Blue

I dashed down the road as fast as i could. There, i could see it, the blue ocean was just ahead, accompanied by the golden sand of the beach. It was like an oasis in a hot desert. Even though the my attacker was gone, I did not take any chances. It was time to get out of this dangerous island and head for another hope. I found my wooden raft parked at a safe spot in the beach and immdeiately hopped aboard. Perhaps rescue or a safe island awaits me beyond the mysterious blue ocean. My mind dying down as the sea carried me along the waves, and my last though was my family before i blacked out...
"A trip to New York on a full expense paid trip!" I could not contain my excitement as i put down the receiver of the telephone. It was hard to believe that I had just won a lucky draw and the grand prize at that. I dashed upstairs and told my parents about it, however their reactions was rather unexpected.
"Its only a trip for two? I'm afraid i can't let u go alfred, who's gonna take care of you? " my mother questioned me. Just as I was about to open my mouth to argue, my father beat me to it.
"Oh honey, our big boy is already 16" my father argued."He can learn how to take care of himself. And besides, boy boy will also have a fun and wonderful experience with his brother taking care of him."
It was decided, my 13-year old brother Randy and I are heading to arguebly the liviest city in the world for a 2 week all expense paid trip. It was a dream come true for anyone.
How wrong I was...
On the day of departure, as my brother and I carried our luggages past the checkpoint, I turned around to face my parents one last time before we board the plane. They smiled and waved at us, I could see tears of relunctance welling from my mother. I had no idea this coud be my final time seeing my parents...
My brother and I waited at the departure hall. Our plane was a huge A380 passanger plane. In my entire life, I had never ridden on a plane before, let alone the brand new double decker plane right in front of my very eyes. It was dark blue accompanied by the golden streamlined logo of the SIA. My brother was in awe as he stared at the big machine. He owes me big time for this trip, I though to myself mischevoiusly. Grinning from eye to eye, we boarded the plane and made our way to our seats. After the liftoff and noting that everything was picture perfect, I dozed off. I had no idea that in the next few minutes, I would be in a ride more thrilling and dangerous than any rollercoaster ride in the world.
"Oi, bro wake up, something's not right ", Randy poked me repeatedly. Yawning, I woke up to find that the plane seems to rocketing. The speed of the plane was increasing by the minute. However, the passangers around me seems to be oblivious to the situation. Most of them was in their dreamlands. "We are moving past a thunderstorm, all passangers please put on your safety belt." The speaker announced, in a rather eerie tone. All of a sudden, the plane lurged foward, my head slammed on to the seat in front of me with great impact. Now everyone was panicking, passangers were screaming and some were bursting into tears. The plane was totally out of control, nose-diving at an incredible speed. A flight attendant zoomed past me on the pavement by one of the laws of physics, gravity. Randy was whimpering a prayer beside me, all huddled up. I scanned my surroundings and saw that a man was helping a flight attendant to open the emergancy exit door. With the plane almost touching down on the looming sea beneath it, they gave one last final effort, and all of a sudden they were vacummed out of the open door. Trays, luggages and everything I could imagined were flying out of the open door, which was detached from the plane in a second. all the 403 passangers left on board the plane were on their last ride. I knew i had to take a chance. Pulling my brothers hand, I waited a few more seconds as the sea nears. Passsangers were all hanging on to anything they could find, waiting for their impending doom. We jumped out of the door and into the cold heartless night...
"Boom" the plane made contact with the sea that gave out a chilling and thunderous sound. Both Randy and I screamed at the top of our lungs as we dived into the sea. The plane had crashed ahead of us, and its weight forced all the water around it to go down with the plane. From about 20 metres, we hit the freezing waters and was sucked down almost immediately by the blue monster.I looked around frantically for my brother, but all I could see was blue water all around me. Being a school swimmer, i beat the forces of gravity and made my way up to the surface. I grabbed a floating debris and hung onto it for dear life. My brother was nowhere in sight for 1hour, the night was still and silent. For the first time in my life, I cried.
The waves carried me on to an island. I knew I had to stock up on supplies and survive for as long as I could, rescue would be on their way soon. For 3 days and 3 nights, it was survival mode on the inhabited island. Never had I imagined that my life would turn out this way...
I awoke from my sleep on the raft. The harsh reality came crashing back. It was still the blue and peaceful sky on top of me. However, the dark blue waters beneath me was clawing for me, hoping I would be its prey. Release me from this reality, I prayed to the heavens. Just let me die. My thoughts were interupted by a sound of hope, something red was hovering on top of me, and it was getting closer. 3 days without water was probably making me hallucinate. For the first time since the crashed, I smiled, it was a rescue chopper.
On the chopper, I seemed to be treated like a king. Water was served and someone rather familiar was serving me. Still in a state of shock, the person told me to rest. As I was about to close my eyes, I stared in disbelieft at that person. I could have sworn he was wearing the same blue colour shirt as Randy...
